BATH — Elsie Mae Stillwell, 83, died Dec. 13 at the Winship Green Nursing Center.

On Sept. 22, 1927, she was born in Swarthmore, Penn., the daughter of Horace P. and Grace B (Brown) Stillwell, and attended Swarthmore schools.

Over the years she worked in retail at F.W. Woolworth, Spear’s Clothing Store, and as a research technician at Amoco.

She moved to Maine in 1977 to care for her sister, Virginia Stillwell.

An active member of the First Baptist Church in Bath, the church and its members were like family to her.

Her sister, Virginia, predeceased her in July 2001.

She is survived by two sisters, Lillian Benner of Folsom, Penn., and Mildred Marshall of Glenolden, Penn., and a brother, Horace Stillwell of Austin, Texas; cousins, Dorothy and Vernon Eddington of Maryland, Ruth Stillwell, Robert and Susan Stillwell of New York, Billy Brown, Doris Brown and Kevin Brown of Media, Penn.; many nieces and nephews; and good friends.

There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
