BATH — Elsie Mae Mailly, 88, of Bath, died Jan. 13 at Mid Coast Hospital from complications of influenza, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Bath on Nov. 28, 1926, the daughter of John and Elsie Reed.
Mailly loved Bath and warmed the hearts of many Bath residents. She was particularly fond of her employment there. While at the Bath Children’s Home, she generously gave time and opened her own home to the resident children, so they could celebrate holidays with her own family.
For many years, she also cooked at the Bath Memorial Hospital coffee shop, where she was known for her delicious treats. And even today, many remember her smile and courteous service while she worked at Shaw’s Supermarket.
She was predeceased by her husband, Maynard Walter Mailly; family members, Alma Strout Atwood, Robert Reed and Harriet Rose Paige; and infant daughter Sherry Ann Peters.
Mailly is survived by daughter Vicki Sprague, of Bath; son Everett Main Jr., of Wiscasset; daughter-in-law Jeanne Main; brother John Reed II and wife, Flora Thayer Reed, of Woolwich; brother Peter Reed and wif,e Betty Wallace Reed, of Florida; grandchildren, Nicole Sprague, of Portland, Jeremy Main and wife, Jasmine Main, of Helendale, California, Ryan Sprague and wife, Funmi Sprague, of Tampa, Florida, and Arelitsa Barth and husband, Joseph Barth, of Johnston, Rhode Island. She also is survived by great-grandchildren Ayanna Main, Gavin Main, Jocelyn Main, Seba Abou Ouf and Declan Barth.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nursing staff at Mid Coast Hospital, Dr. Chad LaChance, Dr. Lora Jobe and the entire Small Point Baptist Church community.
A service and reception were held Jan. 17 at Small Point Baptist Church.
