SOUTH PORTLAND — Elliot Eugene Hart, 85, died peacefully April 15 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
Born in Portland on Feb. 8, 1925, he was a son of Elliot Hart and Irene (Burnham-Hart) Calderwood and attended Portland schools.
During World War II he served in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy.
For 58 years he was married to his loving wife, Alice.
An automotive technician all his life, he worked for Yankee Ford and loved old cars.
He was an active member of Elm Street United Methodist Church
He had served as chairman of South Portland/Cape Elizabeth TRIAD and was a former member of the Portland area Barbershop Chorus.
A model car enthusiast, he also enjoyed reading and had a great love for Bug Light Park, and would take daily trips to the park.
He was predeceased by his brother, Emery Hart.
Survived are his wife, Alice (Henderson); daughter, Diane (Hart) Doak, and her husband, Paul Doak, of Poland Spring, and a son, Michael Hart, of Vancouver, Wash.; granddaughter, Melissa Doak, and partner, Mark Beattie, of Solon; many beloved nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Millie Santamaa.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
Arrangements are by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
