SCARBOROUGH — Ellen M. Hughes, 73, died May 30 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House following a long illness.
On Nov. 3, 1936, she was born in Scarborough, a daughter of Horace and Lillian Whipple.
A lifelong resident of Scarborough, she attended local schools, married, and raised her family in Scarborough.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rodney Hughes.
Surviving are two sisters, Rachael and Becky; a brother-in-law, Herbert Hughes; a daughter, Rodalynn Remington and her husband Daniel of Scarborough; three grandchildren, Josh, Charlotte and Mark Clancy of Scarborough; a great-grandson, Owen Heath and great-granddaughter, Camryn Clancy; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
Arrangements are by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
