BRIDGTON — Ellen Harney Burnell, 92, died peacefully April 20 at Bridgton Health Care Center.
Born in West Virginia May 17, 1917, she was the daughter of Rose Hazelton and Thomas Harney.
Her hobbies included reading, sewing and baking. She especially loved to cook for her family.
Known for her great sense of humor, she was always ready with a witty remark or joke.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Walter F. Burnell, son Mearle H. Burnell, granddaughter Laura Libby, daughter-in-law Sandra Jean Burnell, son-in-law Kenneth E. Edwards, two sisters, Emma York and Julia Burgess, and a brother, Joseph Harney.
Surviving are her son, Carlton F. Burnell of Warren, and two daughters, Sandra Jean Witham and husband Raymond of Falmouth, and Patricia H. Edwards of Naples; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23 at the Gray Village Cemetery in Gray.
