PORTLAND — Elizabeth M. “Betty” McKague, 71, died April 15 at Maine Medical Center.

She was born in St. Albans, Vt. on Aug. 2, 1937, a daughter of Ralph E. and Hazel M. (Tracy) Moore.

In 1955, the family moved to Peaks Island.

She graduated from Portland High School and worked in housekeeping for the Eastland Hotel and the Holiday Inn for many years.

Her hobbies included knitting mittens and hats for family. She enjoyed visiting with neighbors, or just playing Bingo or getting an ice cream cone with her companion George.

She is survived by her longtime companion of over 20 years, George Dixon of Portland; her step- mother, Mary Moore; four sisters, Joyce Crowe and her husband Richard of New Gloucester, Charlene Hansen and her husband Tracy of Westbrook, Joan Hughes of South Portland, and Donna Tracy of Westbrook; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 23 at Forest City Cemetery in Portland.
