BRUNSWICK — Elizabeth M. “Libby” Bailey, 97, who lived on Maurice Drive and was a longtime resident of Orr’s Island in Harpwell, died Feb. 24 at Horizons Living & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on Orr’s Island on July 19, 1917, a daughter of Herbert and Lillian (Smith) Linscott.

She married Lawrence Bailey on June 17, 1938, on the island. Lawrence predeceased her on Nov. 5, 1988.

She was also predeceased by her three sons, Lawrence Bailey Jr., Robert Bailey and Herbert Bailey; a sister, Elzada S. McGilley; a grandson, James Bailey; and a niece, Lynn Gledhill.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Patricia Bailey, of Bowdoinham, and Jane Bailey, of Brunswick; a sister, Margaret Gledhill, of Annapolis, Maryland; a niece, Debbie Nolan; a nephew, Scott Gledhill; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Bailey’s life will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. Interment will be held in the summer at Orr’s Island Cemetery.
