BRUNSWICK — Elizabeth Idella (Rand) Merrill, 77, died Jan. 29 at her home.
She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 28, 1932, daughter of Carleton H. Rand and Alfreda (Bowie) Rand.
She graduated from Kents Hill School in 1950.
On June 3, 1951, she married Charles L. Merrill in Lewiston.
They moved to Brunswick in 1963. She volunteered at Mid Coast Hospital and local high schools. She was an active member of First Parish Church in Brunswick, and enjoyed knitting, tennis, and painting.
She is predeceased by a brother, Robert L. Rand.
Surviving are her husband Charles of Brunswick; sons, Christopher L. Merrill of Topsham and Andrew C. Merrill of Brunswick, daughter, Susan Elizabeth (Merrill) Lonsdale and her husband Thomas of Forked River, N.J.; two brothers, David W. Rand of Lewiston, and James E. Rand of Auburn; sisters-in-law, Janis Rand and Hazel Rand; and grandchildren, Matthew, Kimberly, Julia & Samantha.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Feb. 2, at First Parish Church, 9 Cleaveland St., Brunswick.
