SCARBOROUGH — Elizabeth Greer “Betsy” Tiemann III , 63, died Nov. 28 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House surrounded by her devoted friend, Ann, and several family members following an eight-year battle with breast cancer.

She grew up in Malvern, Long Island, N.Y. and most recently lived in North Yarmouth,

A multi-faceted woman, she held many different jobs over the years, including a metallurgist, machinist, engineer, massage therapist and acupuncturist. Her last job was at the Market at Pineland, and she enjoyed being part of the Pineland community.

For many years she sang in Women in Harmony and enjoyed music of all styles.

She was also an active member and board chair of Women Unlimited.

Her interests included camping, kayaking and spending time with friends.

Determined not to be defined by cancer, she led an active life and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her friend Ann Dillon; her sister Kinny and brother Hays; brother-in-law, Hans; four nieces, Corinne, Susan, Beth and Casey; two stepsons, Devin and Nathan; and Ann’s daughter, Mariah.

Arrangements are by Funeral Alternatives, 417 U.S. Route 1, Falmouth.

A celebration of life will be held in The Commons at Pineland in New Gloucester on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House or an animal shelter of choice.
