SOUTH PORTLAND — Residents will have the opportunity to drive an electric car at the annual Drive Electric Day vehicle expo on Sunday, Sept. 13.

The Natural Resources Council of Maine will host the free event from noon to 4 p.m. at the South Portland Community Center, 21 Nelson Road, as part of National Drive Electric Week.

Attendees will be able to drive electric cars and learn about new and clean ways to save money on gas while eliminating pollution, according to a statement from the NRCM.

Free food will be available from noon to 3 p.m., along with a raffle for a variety of prizes, including a new Level 2 electric vehicle charger worth more than $600.
