BRUNSWICK — Eleanor Littlefield Brush, 93, died at her home at The Highlands in Topsham Jan. 31. 

She was born in 1917 in Sandy Creek and moved to Westbrook as a child, graduating from Westbrook High School in 1935 and Gorham Normal School in 1938. 

After teaching at Pride’s Corner School in Westbrook for three years, she married John F. Brush in 1939. 

During World War II he served in the Navy, and during his deployment they lived in Chicago, Memphis and later spent two years in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he served as a Navy Lieutenant during the Korean War.

In 1954 they moved to Brunswick, where she was a Girl Scout leader for many years and an active member of First Parish Congregational Church, teaching Sunday School, and serving two terms as a deaconess. 

A dedicated wife and mother, her hospitality and kindness will long be remembered.

She was predeceased by her husband John in 1994.

Surviving are her sister, Jean Crockett of Wallingford, Conn., and a brother, Robert Littlefield, of Cumberland; three children, Jean Hill of Port Charlotte, Fla., Carol Brush of Harpswell, and Jon Brush of Delaware, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Nate Hill and Sandy Hill Edwards, Tom and Wayne Clemons, Andrew, Emily, and Sarah Brush; four great-grandchildren, Avery and Maren Hill, Hannah and Amanda Clemons. 

Memorial services were held last week.

Arrangements are by Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
