PORTLAND — Eleanor Elizabeth Seader Ward, 82, died peacefully Oct. 12 surrounded by her family after many years of declining health.

Born May 15, 1928, a daughter of Adeline (Koslowski) and Archie Seader, she graduated from Portland schools.

In 1947 she married her beloved husband, Edward Ward. Together they made their home in South Portland where they shared many happy years.

She took great pride in her home and loved to work in her garden.

With her father’s help, she built a beauty salon in her home, Eleanor’s Beauty Salon, which she operated for many years.

After adopting their daughter, Margaret Rose, she closed the salon to devote herself full-time to raising Margaret.

She is survived by her daughter Margaret Tuttle and son-in-law Tommy of South Portland; three grandchildren, Christopher T. Tuttle and his wife Kate, Zachary E. Tuttle and his partner Katie Edwards, and Jill Elizabeth Tuttle; and great-grandson Zachary Edward Tuttle Jr.
