FREEPORT — Eleanor “Ellie” Bell, 92, formerly of Needham, Mass., died Sept. 25.

She was born in 1917 to Edward and Sarah “Sadie” Kruger, and was raised in Everett, Mass. She had three sisters, Frances, Evelyn and Ruth and a brother, Harold.

While working as the executive secretary to the president at Austin-Hastings, Co., she met her future husband, Alwin.

When he returned from World War II in December 1946, they married and settled in Medfield, Mass., to begin a family. Together they had three children, George, Arthur and Janet.

They moved to Needham, Mass., in 1954 and lived there for over 50 years. After raising her children, she worked in human resources at Carter’s for 19 years.

In 2004, she and Al moved to Maine. After her husband died in 2005, she lived at Freeport Place and Hawthorne House.
