BRUNSWICK — Eldrick N. Thibodeau, 83, of Brunswick, died peacefully Saturday at Freeport Nursing Home.
Thibodeau was born Dec. 5, 1929, in St. Francis, the son of the late Willie and Fabian Thibodeau. He was the eighth of 16 children.
After working as a lumberjack in the Allagash, Thibodeau joined the U.S. Army in 1951. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War as an infantryman.
Thibodeau married Nina Blair of Connors, New Brunswick, Canada, on Feb. 21, 1955.
He loved watching John Wayne movies and football. He especially loved the Patriots, but tolerated the Red Sox.
Thibodeau, known to his family as Pepere, will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Nina Blair Thibodeau, of Brunswick; his seven children, Frank, Perry, Karen, Mike, Kim, Eric and Kara; and their families, including 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two expected great-grandchildren.
His wife and children would like to thank the staff at Freeport Nursing Home for their loving care in his final days.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church-All Saints Parish, 39 Pleasant St., in Brunswick, followed by military honors. A reception will follow at Knights of Columbus on Columbus Drive in Brunswick. Interment will be a private and at a later date.
