TOPSHAM — Elaine B. Miller, 84, died July 31 at the Highlands in Topsham.

Miller was born in Needham, Massachusetts, on Aug. 14, 1929, to F. Walter and Dorothy Bennett. She graduated from Needham High School and Green Mountain College.

After graduation, she was employed for 10 years as a secretary with Liberty Mutual Insurance. During the 1970s and 1980s, she worked in human resources for Wellesley College.

She married Robert W. Miller, of West Newton, Massachusetts, in 1959. The couple lived in Sherborn, Massachusetts, in a house that Robert designed. There, they raised a daughter, Susan, and a son, Todd. In 1991, they moved to Arrowsic.

Miller enjoyed tennis, gardening and skiing, especially on the slopes of New England, Europe and the Rocky Mountains. For more than 20 years, she also served as a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program in Bath. Most of all, she valued her family and friends, and her children extend thanks to those who spent time with her in the last several years.

She is survived by daughter Susan, of Victor, Idaho; son Todd, of Medford, Massachusetts; a sister, Sally Cook, of Weston, Vermont; a niece, Nancy Miller, of Newmarket, New Hampshire; and three nephews, Douglas Cook, of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Duncan Cook, of West Falmouth, Massachusetts, and Scott Miller, of Southborough, Massachusetts.
