BRUNSWICK — Elaine A. Swissler, 85, died Feb. 17 at Freeport Nursing Home.
Born in St. Paul, Minn., Dec. 4, 1924, she was a daughter of Alton and Esther Nuemann Roberts.
After she graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, she served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force based in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In 1956 she married Raymond J. Swissler in Honolulu.
Her career was spent working as a nurse in Veterans Administration hospitals, from California to New Hampshire.
After moving to the area in 1968, she worked at Pineland Center for 10 years and later at L.L. Bean before retiring in 1995.
She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband Raymond of Brunswick; a daughter, Tracy Littlefield and her husband Donald of Scarborough; a grandson, Nathaniel Littlefield; and a sister Joyce Plaster of Yellville, Ariz.
Private services will be held this spring.
