TOPSHAM — Edwin Fenimore, 82, died Sept. 5 at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth.
Born on Sept. 30, 1926, in Saddle River, N.J., he was a son of Matthew and Mary (Seeberger) Fenimore.
As a child, he and his family moved to Maine where they started a family farm in Topsham.
He attended Brunswick High School.
He grew the family farm, “Pine Ridge Farms” into a flourishing business, providing produce to local markets.
On Nov. 15, 1952, he married Geraldine Mae (Pardur) Fenimore in Brunswick.
In 1974, he started working on the grounds crew at Bowdoin College and spent nearly 20 years landscaping and creating beautiful gardens that can still be seen today.
His interests included World War II history, watching football and baseball, and strumming his guitar in the evening.
He was a quiet man who loved his family and friends greatly.
Surviving are his wife Geraldine of Topsham; three daughters, Cathleen A. Hanscom of U.S. Virgin Islands, Joyce E. and Paul Sobolewski of Bridgewater, Mass., and Mary Elaine Atkins of Topsham; five grandchildren, Allyson (Hanscom) McDougall, Jamus M. Hanscom, Brittany L. Sobolewski, Ryelle E. Atkins, Alfred L. “AJ” Atkins IV; and one great-grandchild, Kayla McDougall.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
Arrangements are by Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
