SOUTH PORTLAND — Edward (“Ed”) J. Bolduc, 48, died unexpectedly Jan. 5 at his home.

Bolduc was born in Portland on Feb. 15, 1966, the youngest of four children of Philip and Catherine (Macomber) Bolduc. A lifelong resident of South Portland, he was educated in local schools and graduated from South Portland High School in 1984.

He was a devoted husband to Carol (Kelsey) Bolduc, whom he married on May 17, 2008, after a 13-year courtship. In the past two years, Ed nursed Carol back to health after her cancer diagnosis – his smile and humor never wavering.

Bolduc worked at L.L. Bean as a materials handler for 23 years, and took great pride in his work and in working for a Maine company. In his spare time, he was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed trips to Bangor with his wife, especially at Thanksgiving, to spend time with her large family. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.

Bolduc is survived by his wife; a brother, Mitch Bolduc, of South Portland; sisters, Karen Greenlaw and husband Rick, of South Portland, and Tracey Nelson and husband George, of Huntersville, North Carolina; nieces, Megan Regis and family, and Amanda Nelson; nephews, Kyle Greenlaw and family, and Adam Nelson; his wife’s family, whom he loved as his own; and many close friends including Steve “May Day” Mayberry. He also leaves behind his two cats, Maria and Mr. Bigs.

Visiting hours and a service were held Jan. 9. Burial was to be private.

Those who wish may make contributions in Bolduc’s memory to the Animal Refuge League, P.O. Box 336, Westbrook, ME 04092.
