FALMOUTH — Edward A. Hobbs Jr., 96, died peacefully at his home on Feb. 10.

On March 22, 1914, he was born in Portsmouth, N.H., the son of Edward A. Hobbs Sr., and Anna Leary.

After attending schools in Toledo, Ohio, he worked for National Biscuit Co. in Toledo and Portland.

He served as vice president for Cushman Baking Co. in Portland, and later on he worked for DCA Food Industries in New York.

During World War II he served in the 1st Marine Division, Guadalcanal.

He enjoyed golfing, baseball, spending time in Florida, and traveling with his wife, Georgia.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Masonic Order, Freeport Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Kora Temple, and the American Legion.

Predeceasing him was his wife Georgia E. Hobbs, whom he married in 1945.

Surviving are his son, Daniel L. Hobbs of Gray, and his daughter, Sandra A. Hobbs of Falmouth.

Visiting hours will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Portland.
