PORTLAND — E. Frances Johnson, 91, died Jan. 26 at St. Joseph’s Manor.

She was born in Portland, daughter of William and Margaret Coffin Wing and attended Deering High School.

Following school, she worked for Burnham and Morrill where she met her future husband, Arvid A. Johnson. They married on May 20, 1939, at Sacred Heart Church.

Her greatest pleasure was derived from being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed close relationships and frequent visits with her extended family and friends.

She lived her entire life in East Deering.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Arvid, on April 2, 2006.

Survivors include her two daughters, Barbara A. Zwicker, and her husband Charles of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Janice Ferry and her husband John of Portland and two sons, Richard A. Johnson and his wife Sheila of Scarborough, Scott W. Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister Edna Andreasen of Portland; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Wing of Portland, Catherine Meserve of Portland; five grandchildren, Jocelyn Zwicker and her husband Andre Hagley, Todd Zwicker and his wife Annie, Michael Fredriksen and his wife Nichole, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Natalie, and Zachary.

Memorial services were held last week.

Arrangements are by Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
