PORTLAND
— A Scarborough man who allegedly intentionally ran down another man with his SUV last week has been charged with murder.

Police say Timothy Antone drove to the Auburn Street apartment building of Roland Villacci the morning of Oct. 28 and ran Villacci over with his Ford Explorer in the parking lot. Villacci, 49, died Sunday at Maine Medical Center.

Antone fled the scene on foot after running Villacci over, but was found nearby, according to police.

Antone, 42, was initially charged with elevated aggravated assault and criminal intent. On Monday, police announced the charge had been changed to murder. He is being held at Cumberland County Jail with no bail.

Portland Police Capt. Ted Ross said the two men had known each other for a while.
