The Downeast Lacrosse team, featuring top high school players from southern Maine, played in some of the top New England tournaments this summer. Downeast won the XTreme Lax tournament and went 5-0 at the Big Dawg Challenge at Brown University earlier in the summer. The summer season was capped in Lake Placid, N.Y. with the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Challenge. Downeast suffered only its third loss of the summer, 9-6, to the eventual division finalist. However, they quickly bounced back, winning their final four games against teams from New York, Florida, New Hampshire. The team finished with a 15-3-1 record this summer.
