YARMOUTH – Dorothy “Dot” (Kelly) V. Harrington, of Littlejohn Island, died Jan. 25, after a long illness.

Born in Boston May 29, 1923, Harrington grew up in Brighton and resided in Braintree and Framingham, Massachusetts, but she always lived on her beloved island, summers only at first, then year-round after retiring 33 years ago.

She graduated with the Simmons College Class of 1945, worked in the labs at MIT, and was an at-home mother. She became a teacher and completed a 24-year career as a middle school math teacher in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Harrington is survived by her two children, Richard A. Costello, of Chicago, Illinois, and Jane E. Hurst, of Yarmouth; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; a nephew; and several nieces and cousins.

A celebration of life and burial is planned for a later date in the spring. The family is grateful to her many caregivers.
