BRUNSWICK — Dorothy M. Rowden, 82, died June 27 at Horizons Living & Rehab Center.

Rowden was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Portland, the youngest of six children of Charles and Julia Geary Fields. She attended Portland schools.

She married James W. Rowden on Nov. 25, 1961, and the couple lived in Portland until relocating in his retirement to Lubbock, Texas. James died April 28, 2012.

Known for her wit and willingness to express her opinions, Dorothy was a homemaker who raised six children. In her free time, she enjoyed bingo, thrift-store shopping and Chinese food, and collected knickknacks and white hobnail glassware.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Mary Markley, Peggy Frisco, Ann Harrison and Lillian Rowden; and a brother, Charles Fields.

She is survived by four daughters, Joanne M. Daigneault and her husband, Gary, of Biddeford, Sandra J. Kenney and her husband, William, of Brunswick, Lorie L. Franklyn and her husband, Galen, of Gorham, and Denise K. Cieri and her husband, Matthew, of Brunswick; two sons, William D. Kenny and his wife, Sue, and James C. Rowden, all of Portland; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 8, at noon, in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
