TOPSHAM — Dorothy B. Hall, 90, died March 12 at Amenity Manor.

Born in Keswick, New Brunswick, Canada, on Dec. 1, 1920, she was a daughter of Elwood and Jennie Lipsett Boone.

In the late 1930s she moved to the United State to study nursing, and eventually became an licensed practical nurse.

On Nov. 11, 1942, she married Roland Hall. They were married for 65 years.

For 50 years she worked as a nurse in the Brunswick area, and helped establish the first obstetrics unit at Parkview Hospital.

Over the years she helped deliver countless babies, and was well-known for her excellent nursing skills.
 
An excellent cook, she always had homemade bread on the table and loved to entertain Navy families who moved into the area.

A master knitter, she provided numerous hats, socks, mittens and sweaters to her children.

She loved Canada and visited often with her children during the summer months.

She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.

Her husband Roland Hall predeceased her, as well as three sisters, Marion Harrison, Helen Wood and Iris Rae.

She is survived by a son, David Hall and his wife Claire of Bow, N.H., a daughter, Kathaleen Torrence of Virginia Beach, Va., seven grandchildren, Kevin M. Bergstedt and wife Robyn, Jeffrey A. Bergstedt and fiancee Mayumi Hino, Christopher D. Bergstedt and wife Suzanne, Andrew D. Hall and fiancee Stephanie Gassett, Janet R. Johnson and husband Brandon, Karen E. Hall, and Daniel S. Hall and wife Kristy; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, March 16.
