PORTLAND — Dorothea Cecilia “Dottie” Walsh, 91, of Portland, died at Maine Medical Center on May 5. She was born in Portland on Sept. 6, 1921, the daughter of Robert J. Walsh and Florence Nicholson Walsh.

She resided in Portland her whole life, living in the Woodfords area and graduating from Deering High School in 1941. She was also a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. She lived most recently at The Woods at Canco and greatly enjoyed her time there.

Walsh worked in the retail business, employed for many years by Rines Bros. and later at the Uniform Shop in Portland, where she worked into her late 70s. She had many joys in her life, including going to the beach, especially along the Florida coast, knitting, jewelry, and shopping, where she never missed an opportunity to go to a craft fair. She also loved spending time with her family. She would go to lunch with her sisters, take trips to Florida and visit relatives on Long Island and would always enjoy family gatherings.

Walsh was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Robert Walsh Jr.; and her sisters, Sally Nappi and Francesca Walsh. She is survived by her sister, Alice Stivaletti, and her husband, Jerry, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services in Portland, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland.
