WISCASSET — Donna Layton, 69, died Feb. 27 with her husband by her side.

She was born in Bath on July 18, 1942, and was the daughter of Richard and Gladys Morse. She grew up in Bath and graduated from Morse High School in 1960.

On June 25, 1960, she married her soul mate, John Layton, and they made their home in Bath to raise their family.

She was very family oriented and being a mom was very important to her. She kept herself busy when the kids were grown up by working as a cashier for L.L. Bean until she retired in 1999.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She always looked forward to family gatherings with her grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye. She also enjoyed quilting, playing Yahtzee, yard sales and camping. Day trips were another favorite past time of hers.

Layton is survived by her husband of 52 years; daughters Holly Keith of Gardiner, Kim Hook of Brunswick, Lisa Dobson of Brunswick and Tammy Baker and her husband, Mat,t of Gardiner; sister, Sandra Day of Lewiston; brothers Robert Morse and his wife, Donna, of Phippsburg and Richard Morse of Arrowsic; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on March 2 from 4-6 p.m. at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath. A funeral service will be held on March 3 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
