ORLANDO, Fla. — Donald W. “Don” Smith, 89, of North Yarmouth, died Dec. 22 in Orlando, Fla., from complications of open heart surgery.
A lifelong resident of North Yarmouth, he served his community in various ways, including as a member of the North Yarmouth Board of Selectmen, School Board and Future Land Committee.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoying hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Nickels Smith, in 1996.
Surviving are three children, Gerald Smith of Old Orchard Beach and companion Flo O’Keefe, Mark and Laura Smith of North Yarmouth, and Rev. Marilyn S. Glavin of North Yarmouth; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three siblings, Norman Smith and wife Ann of North Yarmouth, Arline Calvert and husband James of Brooksville, Fla., and Barbara Parker of North Yarmouth.
Memorial services were held at the North Yarmouth Congregational Church.

Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford.
