HARPSWELL — Dolores T. Carrier, 89, of Kopaddy Trail in Harpswell, died Aug. 2 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, following a long illness.

She was born May 24, 1925, in Lewiston, a daughter of Leonard A. and Marianne (Gamache) Gagne. She attended schools in Lewiston.

Carrier worked for several years in area shoe shops and then went to work at “The Hill Mill” in Lewiston, where she made fabric for military uniforms during World War II.

In 1946, she married Hector Carrier and then worked with her husband in home construction. She handled the accounting and billing for the family business until 2009.

She is predeceased by her husband, who died in 2010.

Survivors include her son, Richard B. Carrier, and wife, Dorothy, of Harpswell; two sisters, Medora Guerette, of Florida, and Ann Marie Corriveau, of Lewiston; a grandson, Christopher R. Carrier, and wife, Chenessa, of Topsham; godson David and his wife, Monique Labbay; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Cundy’s Harbor Fire and Rescue for the many visits made to respond to Carrier’s health needs.

A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled to be held Thursday at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick. Committal prayers were scheduled for 1 p.m. in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Lewiston.

In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be made to Cundy’s Harbor Fire and Rescue, 45 Taylor Road, Harpswell, ME 04079.
