FREEPORT — Dennis Ivan Proctor, Sr., 74, died at home May 24 surrounded by family.

On Feb. 21, 1937, he was born in Hartford, Conn., the son of Alton and Thelma (Lee) Proctor-Gaskell.

He attended school in Maine and California, and later served eight years in the National Guard Reserves.

Over the years he worked as a lobsterman and clammer in the Casco Bay area, in construction and lastly at Bath Iron Works until he retired in 2002.

His hobbies were gardening, playing cribbage, bowling, dancing to country music and spending time with friends.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, canoeing, and camping, and was a member of the Freeport Snowmobile Club and the Bow Hunting Association.

His sister, Linda Lee Proctor, predeceased him.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Gloria Grondin Proctor; son Dennis Jr. and his wife Carol, daughter Susan Lindley and her husband Dale, daughter Cyndee Linneken and her husband Daniel, son Lesley and his wife Lynne, and a step-daughter, Jeanette Grondin; nine grandchildren, Johnathan Proctor, Jason, Jennifer and Jessie Linnekan, Kaycee, Mikayla and Kyle Lindley, Nathan and Logan Proctor; three grandchildren, Autumn, Daniel and Meara; and a sister, Nancy Nadeau.

Memorial services were held last week.

Arrangements are by Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
