SOUTH PORTLAND — A Maine Department of Transportation paving and drainage repair project started Wednesday on a busy stretch of Ocean Street.
The work starts at the intersection of Broadway and Ocean Street (Route 77) and will extend almost a mile south to the Cape Elizabeth line. Gorham-based Glidden Excavation & Paving is doing the work for $438,000, with the project scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
The project began June 22 with sidewalk improvements, and on June 27 crews will mill the pavement and adjust catch basins and manholes. Final paving and road striping will then take place.
One-way traffic directed by flaggers will be in place until the project is complete, according to MDOT.
