PORTLAND — More delays are expected on the Martin’s Point bridge this week as construction workers install drainage structures on the south end of the $23.5 million replacement bridge.
Drivers will be restricted to one alternating lane on the south end of the bridge from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, Maine Department of Transportation spokeswomen Carol Morris said Monday.
The new bridge is being built adjacent to the existing bridge, which was built in 1943 and connects Portland’s Veranda Street to Route 1 in Falmouth. The replacement bridge is expected to be open to traffic in the first quarter of 2014.
