TOPSHAM — Daryl L. Gallant, 68, died Jan. 5 at his home, following a battle with cancer.

He was born in Skowhegan on June 17, 1945, the son of Philip and Joan Glazier Gallant. He was educated in local schools, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1965-1969.

On Aug. 24, 1969, he married Ruth Duarte.

Gallant worked as manager at Redwood Manufacturing for many years, serving in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Pennsylvania before moving back to Maine in 1989. For the next 21 years, he worked as an independent distributor in Maine for Little Debbie’s, retiring in 2010.

He enjoyed nature and photography, and was a member of Freeport Adventist Church and the Topsham American Legion.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Terry Gallant.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ruth Gallant, of Topsham; four nieces, and several cousins.

A time of remembrance was held Jan. 10 at Freeport Adventist Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Gallant’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
