TOPSHAM — Dana Warren Deguio, 59, of Topsham, died unexpectedly on Nov. 24 after a brief illness.

Deguio was born in Amesbury, Mass., in 1954, a son of Raymond A. and Grace E. (Mann) Deguio. He graduated from Amesbury High School with the class of 1972, and earned an associate’s degree in natural resources and horticulture from Essex Agricultural and Technical School in 1974.

In 1976, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country for 24 years. With the support of his wife and family, he rose to achieve the rank of chief petty officer.

Deguio enjoyed time with his family, traveling the world while in the Navy, and anything to do with the outdoors. He will be remembered as the ultimate backyard mechanic, and his home was known as “Deguio’s Hobby Shop.”

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Deguio; his brothers, Dwight Deguio and David Deguio and his wife, Beverly; his sons, Raymond and his wife, Beth Deguio, Andrew and his wife, Randi Deguio, Shawn and his wife, Lauralee Kelley, and Matthew and his wife, Danielle Kelley; three grandchildren, Aiden, Alexis, and Owen; two nephews, Craig and Keith; four grand-nieces and -nephews, Jamie, Jack, Nicholas and Jordyn; and two cousins, Marjorie McCabe and Robert Mann.

Services and interment are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, The Humane Society or an organization of a donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
