CUMBERLAND — The Town Council on Monday unanimously authorized purchase of a new ambulance.

The town budgeted $100,000 toward the vehicle in the current spending plan, and plans to budget the same amount for fiscal 2014.

Cumberland currently has three ambulances, and the new one will replace a 1999 model that will likely be kept for use at events only, according to Economic Development Director Alyssa Tibbetts. She said a 2006 model that is not performing property is to be sold. The town also has a 2010 ambulance that will continue in service.
