CUMBERLAND — Charles “Bill” Kenny, a retired Air Force officer and Gulf War veteran, announced his candidacy Monday in state Senate District 11.

District 11, currently served by Sen. Gerald Davis, R-Falmouth, includes Cumberland, Chebeague Island, Long Island, Yarmouth, North Yarmouth, Falmouth, and Gray.

Kenny, a Southern New Hampshire University professor in graduate level organizational leadership, is a consultant to Maine companies on international business.

“State government is going through challenging times as it tries to deliver services with fewer revenues,” Kenny said. “I believe I can take my experience in creating and executing multi-million dollar budgets to help address these challenges.”

Kenny, formerly of Freeport, is the third candidate in the District 11 race. Former independent Rep. Richard Woodbury of Yarmouth announced he would challenge Davis two weeks ago.
