PORTLAND — There are five uncontested elections in November for positions in Cumberland County government.

The candidates include four incumbents and one former county commissioner who hopes to regain his seat.

District Attorney

Republican Stephanie Anderson is running for a sixth term in state Prosecutorial District 2. She was first elected in 1990 after having her own law practice in Portland for five years. Before that, she was one of 75 assistant district attorneys in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Judge of Probate

Democrat Joseph Mazziotti is running for his second term, after running unopposed in 2010. He was also unopposed in the June 10 Democratic primary.

District 3 Commissioner

Independent Stephen Gorden is running to regain the seat he lost to Mark Grover in 2012. Because of redistricting, Grover’s four-year term was abbreviated, and he could not run again.

Gorden initially beat Grover in a 2011 special election for the District 3 seat, only to see Grover grab the seat in a 2012 rematch.

District 3 represents Brunswick, Cumberland, Chebeague Island, Freeport, Harpswell, North Yarmouth, Pownal and Yarmouth.

District 4 Commissioner

South Portland Democrat Thomas Coward is running for his second term. He is a former South Portland city councilor, and was first elected commissioner in 2012.

District 4 represents Cape Elizabeth, South Portland, Westbrook and part of Portland.

District 5 Commissioner

Democrat James Cloutier is running for another term in the district that includes most of Portland. He was first elected in 2009.

Cloutier is a lawyer at Cloutier, Conley and Duffet in Portland, a former city councilor, and served one term as mayor of Portland. Cloutier is a board member of the Maine Turnpike Authority and Port Credit Union.
