CUMBERLAND — The Town Council is scheduled to vote whether to adopt the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program at its next meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Through PACE, Efficiency Maine administers a revolving loan fund that finances improvements in energy efficiency, such as solar panels and efficient heating systems and insulation. The program is fueled by federal stimulus funds. The $20 million revolving loan fund is available at low interest rates to homeowners in PACE communities.

“By putting together an ordinance we will allow our citizens to access these funds,” Town Manager Bill Shane said on Tuesday.

Shane said the Sept. 22 meeting date is a change from the previously scheduled Monday, Sept. 27, in part to allow the Town Council to vote on a mass gathering permit for a cross country meet planned for Saturday, Sept. 25.
