Exterior damage is evident Monday after an allegedly drunken driver drove into an apartment building at 171-173 Cottage Road, at the intersection with South Richland Street, early Sunday morning, Oct. 2. According to a police report, Thomas Wiley, 19, of South Portland, tried to turn on to South Richland Street, but drove over the curb, striking a traffic light and the building. Wiley was charged with operating under the influence and driving with a suspended license. He and his passenger both suffered minor injuries. Police estimated damage to the building to be around $30,000.
