SOUTH PORTLAND — Craig A. Libby, 61, of South Portland, died unexpectedly on Dec. 18.

He was born Oct. 1, 1953, in Portland, the son of Calvin and Sally (Huff) Libby. Raised in Gorham, he graduated from Gorham High School in 1971. He then continued his education in the electric field at Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute.

Libby worked as an electrician for over 45 years, and was the owner and operator of C.A. Libby Electric since 1996. He took pride in his work, and was widely regarded in his field.

In addition to his work, Libby enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, NASCAR, golfing, cards, and flying helicopters and small planes. He also had a deep love for his Doberman pinscher dogs.

He was known for his sense of humor and for being a jokester, and most of all, for being a generous man who loved his family and friends.

Libby was predeceased by his mother, Sally J. (Huff) Libby; and sisters, Catherine Eldridge and Cary Libby.

He is survived by his father; his wife, Joanna “JoJo” (Troiano) Libby, of South Portland; his daughters, Melissa Marie Goodine and husband, Andrew, of Wells, and Brittany Elizabeth Libby, of Ocala, Florida; his sister, Gretchen Libby, of San Francisco; his grandson, Aiden R. Goodine; and his nephew, Alexander Anastassiou.

Visiting hours were held Dec. 21 at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, and a funeral took place there on Dec. 22. Burial was scheduled to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
