SOUTH PORTLAND — Cooking with a nautical theme will be presented from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 at the South Portland Historical Society Museum at Bug Light Park.

Susan McLellan Plaisted of Pennsylvania-based Heart to Hearth Cookery will demonstrate cooking methods and what kinds of foods were served aboard mid-19th century sailing ships.

The demonstrations continue throughout the event, which is free, open to the public, and ties in with the city’s rich maritime history.
