Marsh Center needs volunteers

SCARBOROUGH — The Maine Audubon's Scarborough Marsh Center has an urgent need for young volunteers, ages 14 and up, to assist with the store, canoe rentals, and odd jobs, as well as leading canoe and walking tours through the marsh.

"It's a great opportunity for teenagers who are thinking about going into the biological sciences or just someone who wants a fun place to volunteer while helping the environment," said Director Linda Woodard.

Woodard said the Center relies on middle and high school age volunteers, and that this year they have fewer volunteers stepping up to help out.

The Center will be conducting bird and invasive plant monitoring throughout the summer and also will need volunteers to help with those projects.

Volunteers are needed seven days a week from now through Labor Day.

For more information or to sign up for volunteer training and monitoring projects, contact Linda Woodard at lwoodard@maineaudubon.org or call 882-5100 or 415-8331.
