Her entire life was dedicated and devoted to her family; to her children whom she raised with much love, compassion, and care; to her husband Arthur; and later on, to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was kind-hearted, patient, and always looked for the best in everyone. She possessed great wisdom and remained active up until her last few days.

A son, Arthur Purington Jr., predeceased her in 1957.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Arthur of Scarborough; five children, Wayne and wife Beth Purington of Windham, Virginia Lewis and husband Alan of Yarmouth, Jim Purington of Scarborough, Donna Skillings and husband Gary of Jupiter, Fla., and Kathy Howell of Portland; two sisters, Kathleen Bayley of Scarborough, Louise Rowell of Gorham, and two brothers, Henry Libby of Buxton and Frank Libby of Portland; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews, and extended family members; and loving friends.
