Richard C. Frederick, 90

SCARBOROUGH — Richard Carter Frederick, 90, died June 4 at his home in North Ft. Myers, Fla.  

He was born in Scarborough on Nov. 5, 1919, son of George and Della Carter Frederick.

After graduating from Scarborough High School, he worked as a salesman for Cushman Bakery in Arundel and married Dorothy Johnson.

In December, 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and qualified for pilot cadet training. After a major illness ended his ability to become a military pilot, he completed his three-year enlistment at Will Rogers Air Base in Oklahoma City, Okla.

He resumed a career in sales, working for Brown Co./Georgia Pacific, in Oklahoma City, Okla., and later in New York City, before he retired in 1979 after 28 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Juanita Rohde Frederick, and later by wife Jo Alberty Frederick, step-daughter Ann Thibault, five brothers, Walter, Willard, George, Phillip and Donald, and a sister, Pauline Harrison.

Surviving are his sister, Jean Hart, of Scarborough; his daughter Cheryl (Frank) Schneider of Asheville, N.C.; his step-children, John and Ruth Rohde of North Ft. Myers, Fla., Nora Dietz of Medina, Ohio, Patricia Vasquez of Malden, Mass., Janice and Ray Hatton of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Betty and Larry Waggoner of Claremore, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.  
     
Throughout his life he was an enthusiastic fisherman and boater.

Visitations will be held on Friday, June 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, U.S. Route 1, Scarborough.

Memorial Services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19.
