Letter: Rancourt, Holbrook in Scarborough

As Election Day approaches, I find myself thinking a great deal about the choices for Scarborough Town Council. I was present recently at Candidate's Night sponsored by the Scarborough Chamber of Commerce and I would like to strongly recommend Carol Rancourt for one of the two Town Council vacancies. Carol is thoughtful, fair, and willing to listen to her constituents and their concerns about things before the council.

Jessica Holbrook, a newcomer to politics, is clearly interested in a more careful and inclusive way of conducting town business than some other current town councilors. Newcomers may not be well known and have no record to stand on, but every politician starts that way. And a new, fresh approach is just what our Council needs. Although I did not agree with all of her positions expressed on candidate's night, I think the change would be a good one and I am willing to give her a chance to fill the other of the two seats that are up for election.
