Harvey presented
with judicial award

AUGUSTA — South Portland attorney Charles Harvey was awarded the 2009  Vincent L. McKusick Award.
The McKusick Award is awarded to a person who has contributed substantially to the administration and delivery of justice in Maine. Recipients are nominated by justices, judges, or family law magistrates.

Sea Bags raises nearly $20K
for Maine Cancer Foundation

PORTLAND — Portland-based Sea Bags, Inc. raised $18,265 for the Maine Cancer Foundation through 2008 sales of the company's Pink Ribbon tote bag.
Since 2007, Sea Bags has been giving 50% of the proceeds from its specialty tote bags that are custom-made from recycled sails.

Briggs receives commission
for specialty necklace

PORTLAND — Jewelry designer Stephani Briggs of Portland and Blue Hill was commissioned by philanthropist Susan Babson to create a one-of-a-kind necklace for a charity auction to be held by The Explorers Club in New York on March 21.
The necklace features Mississippi River pearls and 'ecogold,' with an estimated value of $14,000. All sales will benefit the funding of scientific research expeditions.

Eric Lake, of North Yarmouth-based Maine Home Energy, earned his national certification as a building analyst from the Building Performance Institute, Inc.
Chef Esau Crosby of Solo Bistro in Bath received the "Innovative Culinary Hospitality Award," from Sante magazine.
Marie Aikins of Portland, a hospice nurse with VNA Home Health & Hospice, received the Heloise Withee Spirit of VNA Award for 2008.

Heidi Sherburne of Brunswick, writer for Downeast Dog News, was awarded the Maxwell Medallion from the Dog Writers Association of America for "Best Feature Story in a Canine Newspaper."
Linda MacDonald of Falmouth, an associate real estate broker at RE/MAX By The Bay, received her certification as an Energy Smart Real Estate Specialist.
Portland-based McClain Marketing Group received 18 awards, including nine gold awards, at the annual Service Industry Advertising Awards national competition.

Preti Flaherty attorney, Elizabeth A. Olivier of Cumberland, was elected co-chair of the Maine State Bar Association's women's law section.
Skip Robinson of Marine Industries Consultants of Brunswick was appointed to the board of directors for the Maine Marine Trades Association.

The Maine Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association elected Robin Rand of Falmouth as president and Amy Rolnick of Portland as treasure of its 2008-10 board of directors.
Licensed aesthetician with Skin Solutions from Plastic & Hand, Kathy Leighton of Cumberland, was appointed to the Biomedic Aesthetic Council.
