Letter: Broder is no friend to crows, either

In addition to other issues with Jamie Broder’s squirrel shooting, there is the matter of health risks he has created for his “crow allies.” Carcasses containing spent lead ammunition are a hazard to scavengers, which acquire lead poisoning from consuming ammunition fragments along with the flesh of the dead animal. If Mr. Broder is using lead air-gun pellets, we invite him to become better informed about these risks by reading the proceedings of a recent conference on this topic: http://bit.ly/8x6NRm.

Each year, we admit bald eagles dying from lead poisoning acquired in this manner; it is not pretty to watch.
