Dorothy A. (Pelletier) DiBiase, 74: Best friend, business partner with husband

PORTLAND – Dorothy A. (Pelletier) DiBiase, 74, died June 26 at Maine Medical Center. 

On Feb. 16, 1935, she was born in Nashua, N.H., a daughter of Ernest A. & Catherine G. (McCann) Pelletier. 

She met her future husband, William J. "Bill" DiBiase, while she was head cheerleader and he was a football player at Portland High School. Their first date was his senior prom in June, 1954. They were married on May 31, 1958, and recently celebrated their 51-year wedding anniversary.

She and her husband were members and owners of B & D Builders Inc., which built the former St. Edmunds Catholic Church in Westbrook. 

She was her husband's best friend and business partner, and a loving mother to her children. At Christmas, she found great pleasure giving gifts. On Sundays, she hosted family gatherings with her homemade pasta. Her hobbies included art, antiques and shopping.

She was predeceased by her sister, Irene McIaasc, son Nicholas Marco DiBiase, her son-in-law, John R. Ricker Jr., and Geoffrey Martin.  

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Bill; four children, DeMaree DiBiase of Yarmouth, Suzette DiBiase-Ricker of Falmouth, Scott William DiBiase of Falmouth and Lee Joseph DiBiase of Falmouth; her six grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha and Dylan DiBiase, Ashley and Jacob Ricker, all of Falmouth, and Geoffery Martin Erskine of Cape Elizabeth; her brother, Robert Pelletier and his wife Lulu of Carmel; several nieces and nephews; and extended family. 

A visitation for relatives and friends is from 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. Funeral prayers will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, followed by a Roman Catholic mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Stevens Ave., Portland.
