Waynflete announces first day practice times

The first day of fall sports practice at Waynflete School is Monday. Boys' soccer goes from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Girls' soccer practices from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Field hockey goes from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Cross country meets from 5 to 6 p.m. Golf goes from 7:45 to 10:30 a.m. All sports meet at Fore River Fields, except for golf, which meets at Nonesuch River Golf Course. There will also be a preseason picnic for athletes and parents, Wed., Aug. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. FMI, waynflete.org.

McAuley preseason meeting/first day practice times

McAuley athletic director Joe Kilmartin will host a preseason athletics meeting for all parents on Sunday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the school's auditorium. Monday, the first day of fall practice, field hockey goes from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Soccer meets from 8 to 10 a.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Cross country convenes at 3 p.m. Golfers should meet at TNT Golf Range on Route 302 in Westbrook at 10 a.m., on Wed., Aug. 18. Watson honored

Former Deering High standout and current Boston College star Matt Watson received the Cape Cod Baseball League's New England Player of the Year Award for his play this summer.

LaxPros wins Elite League title

LaxPros.com outscored Shays Grill Pub, 13-8, to win the 2010 Men's Elite Lacrosse League title last week. Russell Halliday had six goals and an assist and Greg Smith made 14 saves. Mike Holden had three goals in defeat.

SailMaine seeking coaches

Southern Maine Flame tryouts

Casco Bay Sports announces September offerings

Casco Bay Sports has openings for several fall sports leagues. Outdoor soccer has an 11 v 11 Sunday league, beginning Sept. 12 and a Monday 6 v 6 league, starting Sept. 20. Coed flag football starts Sept. 12. Coed frostbite softball begins Sept. 12. Basketball features a Tuesday competitive league, beginning Sept. 14, a Thursday all-ability league, starting Sept. 16 and a Sunday all-ability league, beginning Oct. 3.
