Nondo J. Pasquali, 77: Passion for golf, career in auto industry

PORTLAND — Nondo Joseph Pasquali, 77, died May 29 at Maine Medical Center.

On Feb. 29, 1932, he was born in Maenza, Italy, a son of Antonio and Agnes (Petrone) Pasquali.

After coming to the United States, he graduated from St. John's Academy in Rensselaer, N.Y. and was attending college before being drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corp. He served two years in the Korean War.

Following his military service, he finished college at Albany Business College.

On Nov. 23, 1958, he married Judith Anne Ireland in Rensselaer, N.Y., where they started their family of six children. He ran the family grocery store, Pasquali's Superette, in West Albany, N. Y. and also owned an insurance and real estate business.

In September, 1976, he and his family moved to Maine, where he began a 30-year career in the automobile industry, first with Colony Cadillac Oldsmobile, and later with Classic Oldsmobile Cadillac. He retired in 2005.

Golf was his passion, and he was a member of Riverside Golf Course for over 30 years. Over his lifetime, he had two holes-in-one.

He was a member of the Italian Heritage Club, and past member of Portland Eagles and Elks lodges. He enjoyed playing the stand-up bass, following the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, and spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Pasquali, in 2007.

Surviving are his wife Judith Anne of Portland; two daughters, Lisa A. Ross and her husband Richard of Portland, and Lauren B. Thorne and her husband Martin of Falmouth, four sons, Anthony L. Pasquali and his wife Eleanor Erin of Cape Coral, Fla., Joseph N. Pasquali and his wife Mary Anne of Schenectady, N. Y., Vincent T. Pasquali and his wife Jayne of Portland, and Peter J. Pasquali of Portland; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on June 3.
